Indy Theater Planned for Old Downtown Duluth

May 19, 2007

The Duluth News Tribune is reporting that the A. H. Zeppa Family Trust will finance and build a two-screen movie theater in downtown Duluth. The theater, which will be located at 230 East Superior Street in a building that currently houses the Red Lion Lounge, will program independent films. The city has been without a venue for independent film, since the Norshor Theater stopped playing films several years ago. The new theater is to be called “The Zinema,” according to the press account.

The Zeppa Trust also operates a building next door, which houses Renegade Comedy Theater, Duluth’s long-running comedy troupe.
